Curbing Global Warming in Adelaide

Global warming is the increase in average temperatures of the earth's atmosphere. It really affects the earth turning the earth into a natural greenhouse. It is an effect that we have brought upon ourselves and it is still up to us to help tone it down. Global warming in Adelaide is mainly caused by gas emissions especially from cars and motorcycles.

As stated above that gas emissions from automobiles greatly affect the environment, pre-emptive measures have to be taken to make sure that the earth does not eventually turn out to be a natural greenhouse. Most people in Adelaide own vehicles which they use to and from work; no surprise that many cars have one passenger- the driver-which only goes to increase the co2 emissions.  This fuel is often leaded since the unleaded fuel is usually expensive.

According to researches that have been done over the years, if a person drives an average distance of 25 kilometers in a day, in a whole year, gas emissions mounting to 2.9 tones are emitted. This is only one individual so what about the rest of the population? And how much would be saved if people used public transport or opted to share vehicles having more than two people in one vehicle.

To sort out this mess, the South Australian government has decided to look into the matter. Adelaide Metro buses are the result and these buses come in very handy. First of all, they are fully accessible and travel to all parts of the city.

The greatest achievement of these buses is that they have reduced gas emission greatly to by up to 50% for carbon dioxide, 90% for nitrogen oxide and 80% for carbon monoxide. The buses have also reduced traffic noise and curbed lead and sulphur emissions too.

Adelaide citizens are being encouraged to settle for public transport in order to curb global warming. This is an effort to conserve what is left for our children in the future.
